EXTRA INFORMATION
HOW SECTION 8 INCOME-BASED RENT FOR SENIORS IS CALCULATED
Section 8 helps seniors afford housing by limiting the rent they pay to about 30% of their monthly income. The housing authority considers a senior’s income (such as Social Security, pensions, or wages) and deducts certain allowable expenses (such as medical expenses). The remaining amount is used to figure out how much rent the senior can afford, and the Section 8 program pays the rest directly to the landlord.
The residents’ deposit amount will be equal to the calculated first month’s rent.
PET POLICY
At Vermont Towers, one small pet weighing no more than 25 lbs is allowed, with a $300 pet deposit due at the time of pet move-in; no pet rent is required.
